If this is approved, we will no longer have access to this amazing area and it will only be a matter of time before it is gone for good.
We need to act now. The Helena and Aurora Range Advocates (HARA) are working on saving this place. If you want to join I can send you the forms to register. They are working on their website at the moment and once it is up and running I will post a link here.
What we need to remember is that rehabilitating a mine site after all the ore has been extracted is just that...rehabilitation!All the scars are still there...just covered with vegetation. The whole face of that area is altered, the vegetation is usually brought in from a different area and the animals native to that region are long gone.We need commerce, we need jobs and we do need mining..but we also need to keep an eye on the future and learn from our past!
